S. Xhafa, “Cats” – Arte all’Arte, 2000
Chiesa di S. Giovanni Battista a Mensano
Casole d’Elsa
“Cats” is the most little work by the artist Sislej Xhafa – at least in spacial terms – realized for Arte all’Arte inside the Mensano Church. The piece of art represents two alabaster cats setted at the entrance of the Church of St. Giovanni Battista a Mensano. The cat (with the exeption of our days in wich is one of the main characters of the web content) had different and contrastive symbolic meanings during history, from the veneration as a deity to become a symbol of evil. Interesting is the choice to put the piece insiede a holy building.
