Colle Val d’Elsa
The building chosen by Marisa Merz as her subject of the artistical creation is an ancient tank close to one of the entrance of the city centre of Colle Val d’Elsa; a round-based disused building that continues to have charm and to create suggestion even after centuries: whit its little military fort likeness the tank communicate the idea of a hard to access place, thought to protect something precious in the inside. It is an austere and silent presence, which solemnity contrasts with the surrounding buildings.
The artistic intervention of Marisa Merz focused on the door; as in her style, she was able to take account of the context and its relations and her choise to work on the door is relevant and in line with the aim to give importance to the physical connective element between the inside and the outside, a symbolic element of connection between what is visible and what is not – that is the real deep essence of things.
